As we are in the process of registering new students for next year’s courses, the Open Days often give prospective applicants an important impression of our work.
The active and arts-based approach to teaching and learning, as well as the quality of interpersonal contact between lecturers and small groups of students, can already be experienced during an Open Day.
We invite everyone who might be interested, to pay us a visit between 9am and 12 noon.

This Saturday 15 October the Centre for Creative Education in Plumstead opens its doors again for one of the regular Open Days. For each of the programmes offered, namely …

- Bachelor of Education (waldorf-based primary teaching)

- Bachelor of Arts in Dance (eurythmy)

- Early Childhood Development

… exhibitions of learning materials, students’ work and further information will be on display. Lecturers and existing students will be available for a conversation.

Visit us this Saturday. And if you haven’t seen our new photos on Facebook, we recommend you visit us there too. You will be inspired! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Centre-for-Creative-Education/168118093216109

This Sunday, 12 June 2011, students and staff from the Centre for Creative Education will participate in the Slave Route Challenge to be held in Cape Town from 7:30am. Various distances will be walked or run, all passing historic landmarks connected to slaves. Second and third year students recently studies slavery, and spearheaded our participation in the event. Look out for our black t-shirts with white CFCE logo.

Experience an inspiring way to work with children, by coming to our Open Day. We offer accredited qualifications in small classes and through personal development, art and movement. Our students become teachers able to inspire their children.

The teacher training offered by the Centre for Creative Education is full of activity and artistic development. Based on the principles of Waldorf Education, the training programme assists future teacher in growing personally and professionally. Knowledge about educational principles is as important as a teacher’s ability to inspire pupils as well as a passion for the task of helping pupils unfold their talents.

We offer accredited degrees (B.Ed. and BA dance) registered with the Department of Education. Meet our staff, see student work, and join a demonstration class with movement-based learning, Saturday 28/5, any time between 9am and 12.

Teacher Education staff and students of the Centre for Creative Education will be facilitating a VIGIL FOR BETTER EDUCATION during the night of Friday 12 to Saturday 13 November 2010. The vigil aims to raise consciousness for the need to improve the education our children are receiving, and although it is important to engage with the curriculum review process that is currently happening, to realise that the quality of education is mainly determined by the daily interaction between teachers and pupils. Motivating and inspiring teachers deserves a higher priority than producing documents and regulations.

Teacher training staff and students will be sharing their passion for teaching through conversations, through music and poetry performances, short motivational speeches and various other contributions. This event which starts at 6pm on Friday 12 November is likely to reach its fullest energy level between 7 and 9pm, and is scheduled to run into the early hours of Saturday morning. The full text of our press release can be downloaded from here.

In the morning after the vigil, Saturday 13 November from 9am-12, the Centre will have its third OPEN DAY for this year. Prospective applicants and members of the public are welcome to come and meet us, to receive information about the programmes we offer, to see students’ work and to experience activity-based and arts-based approaches to teaching and learning. Visiting an Open Day is often an important part of a person’s decision to enrol for studies at our Centre. However, if you are unable to come to our Open Day, just phone us at 021-7976802 to book a free interview. The last Open Day for this year will be on Saturday 4 December.
